Bideawee’s mission is to create and strengthen the human-animal bond through best-in-class lifesaving and compassionate care for pets and the people who love them.
Founded in 1903 by Mrs. Flora D'Auby Jenkins Kibbe, Bideawee is one of the country's first no-kill animal welfare organizations. Inspired by a visit to a dog refuge in Paris, our founder transplanted the idea of a compassionate shelter to New York City, where we have been dedicated to finding loving homes for rescued animals for over 120 years.
We believe every animal deserves a safe place to call home. Our work is supported by a comprehensive approach that includes specialized adoption centers in Manhattan, Wantagh, and Westhampton, as well as a full-service animal hospital and the Feral Cat Initiative. Whether we are providing medical care, behavioral training, or managing our pet memorial parks, our team remains committed to the highest standards of animal welfare.
We know that welcoming a new pet into your life is a significant and joyful milestone. Our experienced matchmakers are dedicated to ensuring a successful integration by taking the time to understand your lifestyle and the unique personalities of our adoptable dogs and cats. We are here to support you throughout your journey as you welcome a new best friend into your family.
Your new best friend is waiting for you at one of our three locations.
