Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Inc. (NCCR) is dedicated to rescuing and providing sanctuary for stray and abandoned dogs, ensuring each one finds a permanent, loving, and responsible home. We believe in promoting compassion through humane education and actively reducing pet overpopulation.
Founded in 1999 by Jann Balsano and Brenda Luce, NCCR began as an all-volunteer rescue service. Since our inception, we have grown from a small operation into a committed 501(c)3 non-profit that purchased our own shelter facility in 2002 to better serve the neediest dogs in our community.
As a no-kill shelter, we provide a safe haven for 250 to 350 dogs each year. Our facility is entirely volunteer-run and relies solely on private donations, as we receive no government funding. Beyond basic care, every dog in our charge is altered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated to ensure they are ready for their next chapter.
We believe that adoption is the start of a lifelong partnership, which is why our volunteers work diligently to match each dog with a family based on their individual needs, temperament, and lifestyle. We invite you to be part of our success stories by opening your heart and home to a deserving companion. We are here to guide you through the process, from our initial meeting to the day you bring your new best friend home.
Are you ready to meet your new companion? We invite you to view our featured pets ready for adoption on our website or visit us at our Westfield location. If you have questions or wish to learn more about our adoption process, please feel free to email our team at adoptions@caninerescue.org.
