PAWS of Hertford County is a dedicated team of volunteers bringing hearts together to provide animal welfare and security for our community. We believe in creating a future where responsible actions lead to fewer homeless dogs and cats, ensuring every pet has a chance to thrive.
Our Story
Founded in 2006 by a small group of concerned citizens, we transformed from a dream into a reality when we stepped up to address the needs of homeless and abandoned animals. Over the last two decades, we have evolved into a point of pride for our community, helping thousands of animals find loving homes while championing spay and neuter efforts to prevent overpopulation.
How We Help
We operate as a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) rescue, working directly behind the Hertford County Animal Shelter in Winton, NC. Our dedicated volunteers provide medical care, vaccinations, and socialization for our animals, while our foster program offers temporary, nurturing home environments for those who need extra care before finding their forever families.
