Pender County Humane Society is a dedicated 501(c)3 no-kill animal shelter based in Burgaw, North Carolina, committed to improving the lives of homeless and unwanted animals. We provide essential medical care and shelter while working to find loving, permanent homes for every pet in our care.
Since our re-chartering in 1997, we have remained steadfast in our goal to prevent cruelty and animal overpopulation. With the completion of our dedicated, 2,000-square-foot shelter in 2009, we have established a safe, compassionate environment for animals in need throughout Pender and surrounding counties.
As a no-kill organization, we offer a specialized care environment for adult dogs and cats. Because we receive no local, state, or federal funding, our work is made possible through community support, including our For Our Furry Friends (FOFF) thrift store, which directly funds our shelter operations and medical expenses.
We believe that every animal deserves a hero, and we take great care to ensure each adoption is a perfect match. Our transparent, supportive process includes a friendly screening and home visit, which allows us to provide personalized guidance as you welcome a new member into your family. By adopting, you aren't just giving a pet a second chance; you are joining a community dedicated to responsible, lifelong love.
Ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to browse our available animals or contact our shelter manager to learn more about our adoption process. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer your time, or donate to support our medical and daily care programs, your support makes a life-changing difference for the animals we serve.
