Our Story and Community
Founded in 2017, Mountain Pet Rescue Asheville is a non-profit organization that has saved thousands of lives. We work through grassroots efforts in the Asheville, NC area, united by a passion for helping dogs and cats find their second chance at life.
How We Operate
We are a foster-based rescue, meaning we operate without a physical animal shelter. Instead, our animals thrive in loving foster homes, supported by a network of volunteers, donors, and staff who provide everything from medical care to daily enrichment.

10/7 - One of the most important things we do as a rescue is make sure ALL of our adoptable animals are spayed or neutered, and offer low-cost surgery to the public. Every shelter and every home has limits on the number of animals they can responsibly care for, and those that aren’t lucky enough to land in a safe space don’t make it. We can’t adopt our way out of the animal shelter crisis. Get your pets fixed folks. You’ll save a lot of lives.
