Misfit Mountain

A Mountain of Love

Misfit Mountain is a dedicated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the Greater Asheville area, committed to providing the highest quality of life and care for homeless animals. We accept misfits of all shapes and sizes, ensuring a place where bellies are full, love is bountiful, and nose boops are always the usual.

Our Story and Vision

Founded to serve Western North Carolina, our mission is to offer animals a true sense of home. We strive to create a no-kill community where no animal is euthanized due to financial or spacing limitations, and we prioritize the well-being and safety of every creature in our care.

How We Help

We operate as a foster-based rescue, supported by a compassionate network of volunteers and a sanctuary facility in Clyde, NC. By utilizing foster homes for proper socialization and loving care, we are able to rescue more dogs, cats, pigs, chickens, and small animals while they await their forever families.

The Adoption Journey

We believe in finding the perfect match between our animals and their new families. Our thoughtful adoption process focuses on transparency and connection, ensuring that medical histories and temperaments are shared openly so you feel confident welcoming your new best friend into your life.
