Catman2 is a dedicated, cage-free sanctuary in Cullowhee, North Carolina, committed to providing rescued cats with the kindness, medical care, and comfort they deserve while they wait for their forever homes. Our mission is centered on protecting vulnerable cats, promoting responsible ownership, and fostering a stronger community through rescue, education, and compassion.
Founded in 1996 by Dr. Harold “Catman” Sims and his wife Kay, our organization grew from a retired biology professor’s vision to create a truly humane, life-long home for cats in Western North Carolina. Today, we continue that legacy under the guidance of Executive Director Kaleb Lynch, working tirelessly to serve Jackson County and surrounding communities with a small, passionate team.
We believe every cat deserves dignity, and our 10-acre sanctuary reflects that belief by offering a calm, enriched environment. Residents live in spacious rooms with access to screened outdoor porches, allowing them to play, explore, and relax in fresh air. By operating as a safe-for-life facility, we ensure that every cat in our care experiences safety and affection for as long as they need us.
Every adoption changes two lives—yours and theirs—and our goal is to find the perfect, lasting connection between our rescued cats and their new families. We take the time to understand your home environment, ensuring that the transition into your life is as joyful and successful as possible. When you choose to adopt from Catman2, you are not just getting a new companion; you are opening a space for another cat in need.
Whether you are looking to find a new best friend, volunteer your time, or contribute to our lifesaving efforts, we invite you to connect with us. Please call 828-293-0892 to schedule an appointment to visit our sanctuary. Together, we can ensure every cat in Western North Carolina finds the love and security they deserve.
