Since 1982, the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society (FAPS) has been dedicated to providing a licensed, no-kill shelter for homeless animals until they are placed in loving, caring lifetime environments. We are proud to serve as the only no-kill, non-profit shelter in Cumberland County, working every day to reduce the stray animal population and promote responsible pet ownership.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that receives no state or federal funding, FAPS operates entirely thanks to the generosity of individual donors and community supporters. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide a safe haven for cats and dogs, ensuring every animal in our care receives nutritious food, essential medical attention, and daily enrichment. We are deeply grateful to partners like Valley Auto, whose support allows us to maintain the walking areas and play yards that make our shelter a comfortable home-between-homes for our animals.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why we focus on making the most appropriate match for both the animal and the family. Our transparent adoption process includes veterinary and personal reference checks to ensure our pets find the stable, forever homes they deserve. Because we prioritize the needs of the animal, we carefully review every application and encourage potential adopters to meet their prospective pet during our public operating hours.
Are you ready to change a life? Whether you are looking to adopt a new family member, volunteer your time, or support our lifesaving work through a donation, you are a vital part of our success.
