Macon County Humane Society
Giving Second Chances to Four-Legged Friends
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned, neglected, and at-risk animals across Western North Carolina. We provide a safe haven where they can heal and thrive while working to educate our community on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
Our Commitment to Our Community
At the Appalachian Animal Rescue Center, we are dedicated to reducing animal overpopulation through advocacy, spay/neuter programs, and compassionate care. By addressing the needs of at-risk animals, we strive to create a brighter future for pets throughout our region.
A Home for Healing and Growth
We operate a physical shelter located at 851 Lake Emory Rd, Franklin, NC, which is currently undergoing exciting expansions to better serve our animals. Whether through our dedicated shelter environment or our vital foster program, we ensure every animal receives the veterinary care, nutrition, and love they need to prepare for their new life.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Adopting a pet is a rewarding decision that helps reduce the number of homeless animals while providing you with a loyal, loving companion. We are committed to a stress-free experience, encouraging meet-and-greets with existing pets to ensure a harmonious match for your family and lifestyle.
