Our mission is to nurture and strengthen the bond between animals and people in our community by removing barriers and delivering accessible, comprehensive support with dignity and respect. We envision a community where the human-animal bond is recognized as essential to wellbeing and where animal welfare is a shared responsibility grounded in compassion.
Founded in 1950 as the Henderson County Humane Society, our organization has spent decades advocating for local animals. In 2003, we became the Blue Ridge Humane Society to better reflect our unique operations and our deep commitment to the pets and people we serve.
We believe in the power of connection and care. At our Adoption Center, every animal receives comprehensive medical attention, including vaccinations, microchipping, and spay or neuter surgery, before meeting their new family. By working closely with dedicated foster volunteers and utilizing our Adoption Center, we ensure every pet receives the support they need while waiting for a forever home.
We are committed to forging lifelong bonds between pets and people through thoughtful matching and counseling. Our Adoption Counselors are here to guide you through the process, answering your questions and helping you find the perfect companion to transition into your home successfully. We focus on joyful partnerships, ensuring every adoption is a success story from the very start.
We invite you to visit our Adoption Center or browse our currently available pets online. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in volunteering, or want to support our mission through a donation, you are making a difference in the lives of animals in our community. Join us in celebrating new beginnings today!
