Our Mission
The Outer Banks SPCA is a community resource dedicated to rescue, adoption, assistance, and education. We are driven by the goal to save the lives of all healthy, treatable, and manageable dogs and cats in our community.
Serving the Outer Banks
Since 1978, we have proudly served as the only animal shelter in Dare County. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we staff and manage the Dare County Animal Shelter to provide a safe haven and welfare support for domestic, feral, and wild animals in need.
How We Care
We operate as an open-admission animal shelter, providing temporary housing, medical evaluation, behavior assessment, and spay/neuter services for the animals in our care. Our dedicated staff and volunteers focus on creating a loving, comfortable environment, utilizing programs like fostering to help our residents thrive until they find their permanent homes.
