Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA) is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and placing companion animals into safe, responsible homes across North Carolina. We believe every animal deserves a chance to be loved and to thrive in a permanent, happy home.
Our Story
CARA began as a community-driven response to the crisis of homeless animals in Lee County. Following our rebirth in 2003 as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we have remained a no-kill shelter, steadfast in our commitment to providing compassionate care to companion animals until they are placed in loving homes or reunited with their families.
How We Care
As a volunteer-driven organization, we rely on the kindness of our community to keep our doors open. We provide our dogs and cats with essential medical care, including vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and microchipping, ensuring they are healthy and ready for their next chapter.
