Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society
Our Mission
The Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society is dedicated to rescuing, providing compassionate care, and finding forever homes for abandoned and neglected animals. We believe in the power of second chances and the lasting bonds created through adoption.
Our Story and Community Impact
Established in 1987, we have spent more than a quarter-century serving our community as a private 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, no-kill shelter. Because we receive no federal, state, or county tax dollars, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters to maintain our lifesaving mission.
A Haven for Healing
Nestled on ten beautiful acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, our shelter is designed to help animals thrive while they await their forever families. Our dogs enjoy expansive play yards, while our cats explore and relax in comfortable, cage-less community rooms.
Connecting People and Pets
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are committed to making the perfect match for both you and your new best friend. To ensure every pet is ready for their new life, all animals are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped before going home. We even encourage potential adopters to consider overnight stays to ensure the transition is smooth and happy for everyone.
