Black Dog Club
Our Mission
The Blackdog Club is dedicated to providing rescue, rehabilitation, and training for dogs pulled from high-kill, rural animal shelters throughout the South. We are committed to giving every dog a second chance at a loving, permanent home.
Why We Focus on Black Dogs
Our organization specifically focuses on black dogs to help combat the phenomenon known as Black Dog Syndrome. Research indicates that these wonderful animals are often overlooked in shelters due to unconscious biases and the visual difficulty of capturing their personality in photos, leading to higher euthanasia rates. We are here to change that narrative and showcase the unique spirit of every dog in our care.
How We Operate
We work tirelessly to support dogs that often have special needs, providing the medical care and training necessary to prepare them for their new families. Because we prioritize the health and well-being of our rescues, we operate from a physical location in Smithfield, North Carolina, where our dedicated team manages rehabilitation efforts. We are a rescue-focused organization and do not accept owner surrenders or stray animals, allowing us to concentrate our resources on those pulled directly from shelters.
Your Future Companion
Adopting is about finding the perfect partner to share your life with, and we love helping potential adopters make that connection. We believe that once you look past the color of a coat, you will find a loyal, loving friend waiting to meet you. When you adopt from us, you aren't just gaining a pet; you are joining a mission to save lives.
