ARF Humane Society of Jackson County is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and rehoming dogs while providing essential spay and neuter services to support pets and their owners in Jackson County, North Carolina.
Founded in 1978 by a group of friends, we have spent decades working to improve the lives of local animals. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on reducing pet overpopulation and creating second chances for dogs in need of a loving home.
At ARF, we believe every dog deserves a safe place to thrive. Rather than operating a physical shelter, we rely on a network of caring foster homes where dogs of all ages and breeds receive the individual attention, structure, and socialization they need. We provide the food, supplies, and veterinary care, while our dedicated foster families provide the compassion that prepares each dog for their next chapter.
We are here to help you and your new best friend build a lifelong bond. Because our dogs live in home environments, we have valuable insight into their unique personalities, which helps us ensure a thoughtful, successful placement for your family. We encourage you to review our PetFinder profiles and fill out an adoption application to begin the journey of finding your future companion.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer your time, or support our low-cost spay and neuter programs, there are many ways to get involved. We invite you to explore our available dogs online or contact us to learn how you can help us continue our work. Together, we can make a meaningful difference, one dog at a time.
