The Humane Society of Summit County serves our community by caring and advocating for vulnerable animals and enriching the lives of pets and people. We are dedicated to building a more compassionate and humane community for animals every single day.
We are the only local, non-profit animal welfare organization in Summit County specifically dedicated to serving animals that are victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment, as well as sick and injured strays. We also hold the unique authority to enforce humane law within the Ohio Revised Code, working closely with law enforcement to protect those who cannot speak for themselves.
We operate as a no-time-limit shelter, meaning we never euthanize for time or space. As long as an animal is medically and behaviorally healthy, they remain with us as long as it takes to find their perfect match. Our dedicated staff and foster parents provide essential care, enriching the lives of animals while they wait for their forever families.
Adoption is a joyful journey, and we are here to ensure a smooth transition for you and your new pet. From temperament assessments by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to providing behavioral support after you bring your pet home, we prioritize thoughtful matching. All of our adoptable animals are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations before they head home.
Your new best friend is waiting for you! We invite you to view our currently adoptable cats, dogs, and small animals on our website or visit us in person at our shelter during adoption hours to meet them. If you cannot adopt, please consider joining our lifesaving foster network or supporting our mission through a donation.
