Wood County Dog Shelter
Our Mission
The Wood County Dog Shelter is dedicated to the care and protection of dogs within our community, ensuring every animal receives the support they need while awaiting their forever home. We work tirelessly to provide a safe, welcoming environment for our residents as they transition to new beginnings.
Serving Our Community
Operated under the direction of the Wood County Board of County Commissioners, our shelter serves one of the largest counties in Ohio. Our dedicated team of Dog Wardens and deputies works throughout our 617-square-mile area to enforce state laws, providing essential services to stray and unlicensed dogs to keep our community and our canine companions safe.
How We Provide Care
Our facility at 1912 E Gypsy Lane Road serves as a central hub for dog care and enforcement services. We maintain a professional, transparent shelter environment and are proud to partner with our community through programs like our volunteer dog-walking initiative, which ensures our residents get the exercise and socialization they deserve. We also strive to improve our care capabilities, such as utilizing grant funding to support essential spay and neuter services for our dogs.
The Joy of Adoption
Finding the perfect companion is a rewarding journey, and we are here to help you make a match that lasts a lifetime. By viewing our adoptable dogs through our website or our partner platforms like Petfinder, you can find a friend that fits perfectly into your family. Our team is committed to transparency and helping you understand the unique needs of our residents so you can embark on your adoption adventure with confidence.
