The Scratching Post
Our Mission
The Scratching Post is a dedicated 501(C)(3) non-profit, no-kill shelter committed to rescuing cats and finding them loving forever homes. We believe every feline in our community deserves a safe, comfortable environment where they can thrive while awaiting their next chapter.
A Legacy of Care
Since our founding in 1990, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to the health and welfare of local cats and kittens. Based in Silverton, our shelter has spent decades providing a sanctuary for homeless felines, driven by a passion for animal welfare and a deep connection to the Cincinnati community.
How We Operate
Our facility is equipped to house and care for up to 150 cats at any given time, and we are proud to successfully place approximately 250 cats into new homes every year. We operate under the guidance of our Shelter Manager and a dedicated team of employees and volunteers. Our work is made possible through the generous support of our members, donors, and our local community events.
Finding Your New Companion
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your home and lifestyle. We facilitate adoptions by appointment to ensure every cat receives the focused attention they deserve during their transition. By prioritizing thoughtful placements, we ensure both our feline residents and their new families start their journey together on the right paw.
Get Involved
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our available cats on Petfinder and begin the adoption application process online.
