Humane Society of Greater Dayton

A Legacy of Compassion

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is dedicated to advancing the health, welfare, and safety of animals and people in our community. We believe every animal deserves to be valued, loved, and free from suffering as they wait for their forever home.

Serving the Miami Valley Since 1902

As the oldest and most-established animal organization in the Miami Valley, we have proudly served our community for 124 years. We remain a strictly independent, no-kill agency that operates solely through the generosity of our supporters, ensuring that 100 percent of donations stay right here to help local animals.

Our Commitment to Care

We are a limited-intake facility that treats every animal in our care with the dignity they deserve. Whether through our dedicated shelter environment or our compassionate foster families, we prioritize personalized support until our rescues find the perfect family. We also offer comprehensive veterinary services, including an affordable spay and neuter clinic, to ensure that quality care remains accessible to all pet owners.

Your Partner in Adoption

Adoption is a joyful milestone, and we are here to help you find the newest member of your family with care and confidence. Our team works hard to make thoughtful connections, ensuring that every pet is matched with a loving home where they can thrive. When you adopt from us, you are not just getting a pet—you are giving a vulnerable animal the second chance they truly deserve.

We invite you to experience the impact of our work firsthand by visiting our adoption center or browsing our current list of available pets. 10/9 - Small in size. Huge in personality. Meet Pineapple! Pineapple may be petite, but this little girl has a personality that is absolutely larger than life. Pineapple came to the Humane Society through our Humane Society Agents after being rescued from a home where she was living with 25 other cats in filthy conditions. She was one of the sickest cats from the group and arrived in some of the roughest shape. Our veterinary team quickly noticed that Pineapple was experiencing neurological symptoms, so she spent quite a bit of time receiving care while we worked to understand what was happening and help her get back on her feet. Through it all, Pineapple has remained sweet, silly and completely adorable. She is a tiny little lady with a bit of a wobble when she walks, but she certainly doesn't let that slow her down. Because being picked up can cause her to lose her balance, Pineapple prefers to keep all four paws on the ground. That doesn't stop her from enjoying plenty of love, attention and affection right where she is. Pineapple is the kind of cat who steals your heart without even trying. She's sweet, goofy, affectionate and wonderfully unique. She would do well with other cats and would even love the opportunity to share a home with one of her former housemates. After everything Pineapple has been through, she deserves a family who will see past her challenges and cherish her for the amazing little girl she is. If you're looking for a tiny cat with a huge personality and an even bigger heart, Pineapple just might be your girl.
