The Fairfield Area Humane Society is dedicated to connecting animals and our community through rescue, adoption, and education. We work tirelessly with the support of Fairfield County to improve animal welfare through prevention of cruelty and compassionate care.
Our organization traces its roots back to 1886 when the Fairfield County branch of the Ohio State Humane Society first formed. Today, we operate as an independent, private, non-profit 501(c)(3) agency, relying on the generosity of our community to continue our vital work for the animals we serve.
Located in a historic facility in Lancaster, Ohio, we provide a safe, temporary home for animals while they await their forever families. With 17 permanent dog kennels, 24 cat kennels, and a dedicated Wellness Clinic, we ensure our residents receive quality care, medical attention, and the space they need to thrive. Our team of staff and volunteers is committed to maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for every pet in our care.
We believe that successful adoptions start with thoughtful matching, which is why we guide both people and pets toward healthy, long-term relationships. Our adoption specialists are here to help you find a companion that fits your unique lifestyle, ensuring a lifetime of joy for you and your new pet. Because we are selective about our placements, we invite you to be patient as we work to match the right animals to the right homes.
Are you ready to find a new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable dogs and cats online or visit us in person at our Lancaster location during our operating hours. Your journey toward adoption is a meaningful way to make a difference, and we look forward to meeting you soon!
