The Humane Society of the Ohio Valley is dedicated to promoting the welfare of animals within greater Washington County, Ohio, by providing a safe haven for those in need. We strive to save and enrich the lives of our companion animals while fostering a community built on compassionate care and responsible pet ownership.
Since 2013, our organization has remained steadfast in our commitment to lifesaving, consistently maintaining a live release rate of over 90% in recent years. We believe every animal deserves a second chance, and for over a decade, we have worked to ensure that local homeless pets receive the support, medical attention, and love they need to thrive.
Our work is a true team effort supported by dedicated staff and a robust foster network. We operate an animal shelter at 90 Mount Tom Road in Marietta, where we provide daily care, medical treatment, and essential social interaction for our residents. By utilizing foster homes, we can also offer animals a restful, loving retreat while they wait to find their forever families.
Adopting a shelter pet is a life-changing experience for both the animal and your family. We focus on making the best possible match between our residents and their potential adopters, ensuring long-term success and happiness. Our adoption counselors are available to help you navigate this transition, and we encourage you to involve your children and existing pets in the process to ensure everyone is ready for this exciting new chapter.
You may be just one click away from meeting the love of your life! We invite you to explore our available dogs and cats online or visit us during our open hours to see all our wonderful animals firsthand. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in fostering, or looking to volunteer, we would love to connect with you.
