At Lake Humane Society, our mission is to protect animals and build life-changing connections between pets and people through advocacy, education, and compassion. We are dedicated to providing safety and a second chance at happiness for every animal that comes through our doors.
Founded in 1937 by a passionate group of animal lovers, we have served as a cornerstone of welfare in Lake County for over 85 years. From our humble beginnings in a small Perry Township home to our current facility on Tyler Boulevard in Mentor, we have remained committed to growing and innovating to meet the evolving needs of our community’s pets.
Operating solely on donations with no government funding, we provide a warm, safe environment for over 1,200 animals annually. Our managed intake shelter ensures that every resident receives dedicated care, medical attention, and support, and we never euthanize for time or space. Whether it is through our medical services, pet food pantry, or humane investigations, we work tirelessly to keep pets and families together.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership rooted in personality and compatibility. Our team of adoption counselors is here to guide you through a thoughtful matching process, ensuring you find a companion who perfectly fits your lifestyle and home. Every visit to our private Friendship Rooms is an opportunity to forge a bond that will last a lifetime.
Are you ready to find your new best friend? We invite you to browse our adoptable animals online or visit our Adoption Center in Mentor to experience the love our residents have to share. Together, we can continue to create second chances and heartwarming success stories for animals in need.
