The Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
Our Mission
PAWS Adoption Center is a dedicated no-kill, non-profit animal shelter located in Monroe, Ohio, committed to providing care for homeless dogs and cats while placing them in loving, forever homes.
A History of Care
Founded in 1980 by a small group of concerned animal lovers, we have spent over 40 years working to solve the issue of pet overpopulation. Our journey began with a simple goal: to provide a compassionate alternative for the community and ensure that every animal in our care receives the medical treatment and spay/neuter services they deserve.
How We Help
Operating entirely without tax-based funding, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to maintain our facility and care for our residents. Over 95% of our animals come to us from shelters where they were at risk, and our dedicated team—supported by a roster of over 200 volunteers—ensures they receive the health and attention needed to thrive. We are proud to be a no-kill organization that focuses our financial resources directly on the well-being and long-term success of the animals we serve.
Your Perfect Match
We believe that adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership that saves two lives: yours and your new pet's. Our staff works closely with you to understand your lifestyle and personality, ensuring a match that brings happiness and companionship for years to come. Whether you are seeking a playful pup or a cozy feline companion, we are here to help you find a friend who truly fits your family.
