The Perry County Dog Shelter is dedicated to providing compassionate care for the lost, stray, and surrendered dogs of our community. We strive to be a reliable resource for pet owners and a hopeful destination for those looking to find their next canine companion.
As part of the Perry County government, we serve as the office for the Chief Dog Warden, ensuring the enforcement of local dog laws while maintaining a safe environment for animals in need. We are committed to fostering a community where both pets and people are well-supported and treated with care.
Our facility provides a clean and secure environment where dogs receive essential attention while waiting for their forever homes. When you choose to adopt from us, your new family member comes prepared for a healthy start, as our adoption fee includes vaccinations, heartworm testing, spaying or neutering, and microchipping. We also equip you with a starter bag of food, toys, treats, a leash, a collar, and a valid one-year dog license to help your new journey begin on the right foot.
Finding the perfect match is a joyful process, and we make it easy to see who is waiting for a home. While you do not need an appointment to visit our facility in New Lexington, we recommend calling ahead if you plan to visit in the afternoon so we can ensure our staff is available to introduce you to our wonderful residents. You can also view our currently available dogs at any time through our listing on Wagtopia.com.
Whether you are looking to adopt or simply want to support our mission, we welcome you to reach out. We gratefully accept both monetary gifts and physical donations like food, treats, and cleaning supplies to help us continue our work. We invite you to contact us at (740) 342-3795 or visit our office to learn more about how you can make a difference in a dog's life.
