Van Wert County Humane Shelter
Our Mission
The Van Wert County Humane Society is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, rehoming, and advocating for the cats and dogs of Van Wert County. We strive to provide the care and compassion every animal deserves while promoting responsible pet ownership through education and spay/neuter programs.
Our Story
Our journey began in 2014 when a dedicated group of individuals joined forces with local officials to improve the treatment of animals at the shelter. Since those early days, we have successfully found new homes for over 2,200 animals and reunited more than 1,100 pets with their families, driven by our core values of compassion, integrity, and community collaboration.
How We Help
We operate a physical shelter at 550 Fox Road in Van Wert, where our team works daily to ensure every animal is treated with love, dignity, and respect. Every pet in our care is spayed or neutered before adoption, ensuring they are healthy and ready to join your family. Through our partnerships with local veterinarians and community outreach, we work hard to create a safe, humane environment for all pets.
Your New Best Friend
Adoption is a wonderful partnership, and we are here to help you find the perfect match for your home. When you adopt from us, your fee covers essential care including vaccinations, deworming, and defleaing, giving your new companion the best possible start. We believe in building a future where every cat and dog enjoys a loving, forever home.
