At the Humane Society of Adams County, our mission is to rescue and shelter animals in need, providing them with care, compassion, and a second chance at life. We are dedicated to creating a world where every animal is valued and treated with kindness.
Since our founding, we have remained an independent organization, not associated with the Humane Society of the United States or any other national welfare group. We strive to empower our community through education and advocacy, championing policies that protect the welfare of all animals in our area.
The Humane Society of Adams County operates as an adoption guarantee shelter, meaning we never euthanize current shelter pets to make room for new arrivals. We provide comprehensive care for our residents, including spay/neuter surgeries, essential vaccinations, medical testing, and the daily nourishment they need to thrive. When our facility is at capacity, we focus our resources on the animals already in our care.
We believe that successful adoptions are built on a foundation of trust and respect. Our staff conducts temperament testing to ensure we make the best possible matches between our animals and their new families. We are honored to facilitate the bond between a rescued pet and a forever home.
Whether you are looking to open your heart to a new companion or support our work, we invite you to be part of our journey. Over 250 animals find their loving homes through our shelter each year, and we welcome you to browse our available cats and dogs today.
