The Humane Society of Stillwater is a nonprofit, adoption-guaranteed shelter dedicated to facilitating the placement of stray and unwanted animals into loving, desirable homes. We are committed to promoting the health and well-being of dogs and cats while working to prevent overpopulation in our community.
Founded in 1988, our organization was created to assist the City of Stillwater Animal Welfare Department by managing homeless animals after they have fulfilled their allotted stay at the city shelter. We are an independent 501(c)3 organization, meaning we receive no funding from the Humane Society of the United States, the city government, or the United Way. Everything we accomplish is made possible by the generosity of local donors who ensure that every dollar stays right here in Stillwater.
We believe in providing the best possible environment for our animals until they find their forever families. Every dog and cat in our care is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and receives a thorough health check, with dogs additionally being microchipped. Because we are an adoption-guaranteed facility, no animal is ever euthanized simply because of a lack of space or the length of their stay.
A loving and friendly pet can put an instant smile on your face and bring joy to your home. When you choose to adopt from our shelter, you gain a wonderful companion and a new best friend, while simultaneously helping us improve the live-release rate of animals in our community.
We invite you to stop by our shelter on S. Main St. to meet our available canine and feline companions in person. Please visit our website or contact us directly to learn more about our current adoptable pets and to start your journey toward finding your perfect match.
