Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward is dedicated to the safe refuge and compassionate care of stray, homeless, owner-surrendered, neglected, and abused animals. We strive to foster a culture of kindness, empathy, and responsible stewardship through teamwork, collaboration, and community education.
Since opening our new state-of-the-art Animal Care and Community Education Centre in 2022, we have been proud to serve Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. We are a locally autonomous organization, meaning your support stays right here in our community to provide medical care, nutrition, and shelter for animals in need.
We are a professional facility staffed by trained experts, including veterinary assistants and registered veterinary technologists, who ensure every animal receives top-quality care. As a low-kill shelter, we provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals until they are ready to find their perfect forever homes. We believe in transparency and professional standards, ensuring our residents receive the same level of care you would expect from a trusted veterinary practice.
Welcoming an animal into your life is a beautiful commitment, and we are here to help you find the right match for your unique lifestyle. Our adoption process is designed to ensure a joyful partnership, featuring a 4-step journey that includes an application, an adoption counseling conversation, and a meet-and-greet to ensure everyone feels right at home. We take the time to get to know each animal’s personality so we can provide you with the best advice on care and behavior training.
Your journey to finding a new companion begins today! We invite you to browse our current list of adoptable animals online or visit our shelter at 34 Wallbridge-Loyalist Road in Belleville to meet our residents in person. Together, we can create a kinder world for every animal.
