Northumberland Humane Society

Our Mission

Formed in 1966, the Northumberland Humane Society is dedicated to changing the lives of animals, one paw at a time. Our vision is to foster a community in which all animals are safe, supported, and valued.

Who We Are

As a non-profit, charitable organization, we serve as a vital community partner throughout Northumberland County. We are committed to providing a compassionate environment for animals in need while promoting responsible pet ownership and community well-being.

Our Commitment to Care

The Northumberland Humane Society operates as a low-kill shelter, where the humane treatment of animals is our prime motivation. Euthanasia is truly a last resort, reserved only for cases involving severe aggression that cannot be rehabilitated or significant, untreatable medical issues, ensuring every animal receives the respect and care they deserve.

The Adoption Journey

Adopting is one of the best things you can do, offering a second chance at a happy, healthy life to a dog, cat, or small animal. We focus on finding the perfect match between pets and their families, creating forever bonds built on love and trust.

Whether you are looking for a playful kitten or a gentle senior, our team is here to guide you through the process and ensure a smooth transition. We encourage you to visit us and spend quality time with our adoptable companions to find your new best friend.
