The Etobicoke Humane Society is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for cats and dogs as they await their forever homes. We are a small shelter with a big heart, committed to giving every animal in our care the best possible start to their new life.
Since 1987, we have served the Greater Toronto Area as an independent, federally registered charity. Over the past 30 years, our community-focused organization has grown from its origins as the Etobicoke Animal Welfare Society into the dedicated, all-volunteer shelter we are today.
We believe in the power of dedicated care, and our shelter is operated entirely by volunteers, including our board of directors, with no paid employees. As a no-kill organization, we provide a lifetime commitment to the animals in our care, utilizing a blend of our shelter facility—which houses approximately 30 to 40 cats and nine dogs—and a vital network of foster homes. By relying solely on donations and community fundraising, we ensure that every dollar goes directly toward veterinary care, training, and the daily comfort of our animals.
We pride ourselves on thoughtful, compassionate matching. Our adoption process is designed to ensure that each pet’s personality, behavior, and specific needs are considered, creating a lasting partnership for both you and your new companion. Because we know our animals well, we are here to support you in finding the right fit for your household.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or become a member, there are many ways to be part of our compassionate community. We invite you to view our adoptable cats and dogs online or visit us to learn more about our work. Together, we can provide the love and care these animals deserve as they wait for their new beginning.
