The Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes (HSKL) is dedicated to protecting animals, enforcing protection laws, and educating the public. We envision a community where every animal enjoys a good quality of life with a caring, responsible owner, free from the fear of abuse, neglect, or ignorance.
Our History and Community Commitment
Founded in 1986 as the Victoria County Humane Society, we have grown into a vital resource for our region. We operate as a registered charitable organization that relies entirely on the generosity of our community, as we do not receive any ongoing government funding.
How We Care for Animals
Our work is rooted in a Fear Free shelter environment that prioritizes the well-being and comfort of every animal in our care. We are committed to collaborating with our community, accepting surrenders, and providing specialized support like our in-shelter Pet Food Bank for those in temporary need.
