Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport
A Heart for Every Chi
Canadian Chihuahua Rescue and Transport is a dedicated volunteer network committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Chihuahuas in need across Canada. We strive to show every dog the love and compassion required to help them thrive as they transition toward their forever homes.
Our Story
Founded in 1999 following a grassroots initiative to help abandoned dogs, our organization was built on a simple, powerful idea: a network of volunteers could save lives by fostering and transporting Chihuahuas in need. We grew from a moment of inspiration into a nationwide registered charity, driven by the belief that every dog deserves a safe, permanent place to call home.
Our Care Model
We operate as a foster-based rescue, meaning our dogs receive personalized care, socialization, and veterinary attention in the comfort of volunteer homes rather than a facility. We work closely with shelters and individual surrenders to ensure each Chihuahua is microchipped, spayed or neutered, and medically supported before they join their new families. Our strength lies in our regional coordinators and dedicated volunteers who ensure every dog is safe and cared for every step of the way.
Finding Your Match
We believe that adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership, which is why we focus on creating the perfect match between our rescue dogs and their future families. By getting to know our dogs through foster care and understanding the needs of our adopters, we ensure a sustainable and happy outcome for everyone involved. We look for committed, responsible owners who share our passion for the well-being and health of these tiny, spirited companions.
