Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton
Our Mission
The Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton exists to protect and improve the lives of animals by supporting our community in discovering, strengthening, and preserving the human–animal bond.
A History of Compassion
Since 1936, we have served as a trusted community hub for both pets and the people who care for them. From our early days as a safe haven for lost animals to our role today as a comprehensive resource for animal welfare, we have remained dedicated to fostering connections that make a lasting difference.
How We Care
Operating as a low-euthanasia facility, we provide medical care, nutritious food, and safe shelter to approximately 300 animals at any given time. Our work is powered by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who ensure that every dog, cat, and small animal receives the compassion they deserve while awaiting their new beginning.
Finding Your Perfect Match
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership that enriches both ends of the leash. Our team provides supportive guidance throughout the adoption process, ensuring that every match is made with care and consideration for both your family's needs and the animal's well-being. Whether you are searching for a playful companion or a calm senior pet, we are here to help you navigate every step of the journey.

10/21 - 237 days waiting for a place to call home. Could you be Mia’s person?🥺 This goofy, toy-loving girl has been waiting for her forever family, and we’re hoping her wait is almost over. She loves being close to her people, tossing around her favourite stuffies, showing off her smarts, and working for tasty treats. She has a big personality and so much love to give! 🩵 Mia is still learning that the world can be a safe and fun place. She’ll need an experienced, patient family who can understand her body language, give her time to decompress, and continue building her confidence through training and positive experiences. Her ideal home will have a securely fenced yard, no shared walls or entryways, and adults aged 16+. She’d also do best as the only dog while she settles in. Mia may have some extra needs and things to work on, but she’s also a smart, affectionate, wonderfully goofy girl with so much potential to blossom in the right home. 🥹 Thanks to Mars and the PEDIGREE Foundation, Mia’s adoption fee is also fully sponsored! After 237 days, Mia is still waiting for her person. Could that person be you? Please share her story and help her find the loving home she deserves! 10/16 - 💛 125 days. Zero applications. One very special puppy still waiting. 💛 This sweet girl has already faced medical challenges at such a young age, and she’s still waiting for someone to give her a place to call home. But Marley is so much more than her medical chart. She’s affectionate, gentle, curious, and playful. She loves meeting people, exploring the world around her, and discovering new toys. She’s still learning the basics of puppyhood, and while new situations can sometimes feel overwhelming, she has so much potential to grow with a patient, supportive family. 🥹 Marley does have a permanent kidney condition that requires a specialized diet for life and ongoing veterinary monitoring. She’s currently doing well and gaining weight, and a starter supply of her renal food will be provided to her adopter. We know adopting Marley comes with extra considerations, but we hope someone will look beyond her diagnosis and see the puppy she is — with so many experiences still ahead of her, so much to learn, and so much love to give. Please share Marley’s story. We’re hoping the right person will see her story and realize that she’s worth taking a chance on! Apply to adopt Marley today at hsomh.ca/dogs #hsomh #humanesociety #shelterdog #explorepage #oakvilleontario

10/15 - If you are subscribed to the HSOMH Mailing List, then you may have heard about a $2000 matching gift for the Wiggle Waggle Walk. Well… you matched it! In response to this support, the Wilson family has generously decided to double their matching gift to $4,000! That means every donation will continue to be matched dollar for dollar until the full $4,000 match is reached.🩵 And if you donated after the original $2,000 match was met, don’t worry! Your donation will still be included in the additional match. A $50 donation becomes $100. A $100 gift becomes $200. And every dollar helps more animals get the care they need. ✨We’re Getting Closer to Our $25,000 Goal!✨ Thank you to all 100+ participants who have registered and are fundraising. Together, we’re building momentum toward our $25,000 goal. If every participant raises just $100 more, we can reach our goal! 🤭 Let’s keep the momentum going! Every donation, every share and every fundraising effort brings us closer. With the Wiggle Waggle Walk presented by Royal Canin happening this Sunday, there’s still time to make a big difference for animals in our care. Let’s finish strong and reach that goal together! 👉🏻Donate and support at hsomh.ca/wigglewaggle #oakvilleontario #wigglewagglewalk #humanesociety #donatenow #explorepage
