The Lakefield Animal Welfare Society champions the welfare of animals by providing high-quality, compassionate care and finding loving, forever homes for those in need. We are dedicated to creating a community where every animal is valued, safe, and has a bright future.
Since our founding in 1993, we have served as a non-profit sanctuary for homeless, abandoned, and injured animals in our community. We operate strictly on donations, memberships, and adoption fees, relying on the dedication of our staff and amazing volunteers to keep our mission moving forward.
As a no-kill shelter, we are committed to providing medical care and rehabilitation for our animals, including vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and deworming. Our work is supported by an integral foster home program, which helps us socialize pets and prepare them for their new lives while they wait for adoption. We believe that spay and neuter is the only humane way to combat overpopulation, and we strive to find a viable plan for every animal that comes through our doors.
We are dedicated to thoughtful matching to ensure a successful partnership between you and your new furry friend. Whether you are browsing our pets online or visiting us in person, we are here to support you through every step of the adoption process. Our staff is happy to answer questions and ensure you feel confident and prepared to welcome a new companion into your home.
We invite you to meet your next companion by viewing our current adoptables online or visiting our shelter during our Tuesday through Saturday operating hours. You can also get involved by volunteering your time or supporting our upcoming community events. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend!
