Our Mission

The Peterborough Humane Society is the voice for animals in our community, dedicated to fostering compassion and ensuring every animal's well-being. We strive to keep humans and animals together while working to end pet overpopulation through education, outreach, and accessible care.

Our Journey

Since 1941, we have been a pillar of support for animals in the Peterborough area. In 2023, we opened our state-of-the-art Peterborough Animal Care Centre, a unique facility that brings shelter, adoption, education, and even a leading-edge dog rehabilitation centre under one roof.

How We Help

As an open-admission, For Life organization, we provide a safe, temporary home for over 1,500 animals annually. Every pet in our care receives veterinary attention, vaccinations, and is microchipped and spayed or neutered before they become available for adoption. We operate as a community-reliant charity, supported by the generosity of people like you.
