At the Southern Oregon Humane Society, we are dedicated to improving the lives of pets and people through sustainable programs of education, spay/neuter initiatives, and compassionate adoption services. We believe every companion animal deserves a second chance, and we work tirelessly to ensure they find the loving homes they deserve.
Since our founding in 1928 by Mae Richardson, we have provided more than 97 years of lifesaving efforts to our community. What began as an all-volunteer organization has grown into a vital resource that addresses pet overpopulation and provides quality care for approximately 1,600 companion animals every year.
Our shelter in Medford serves as a safe haven for displaced pets and those transferred from other shelters via our Saving Train program. We are proud to be a facility where animals are never euthanized due to a passage of time or space restrictions. By providing medical care and behavioral support, we prepare each animal for their next chapter in a forever home.
When you adopt from SoHumane, you gain a partner in pet parenthood. We prioritize thoughtful matching and provide post-adoption support to ensure your new family member transitions smoothly into your life. Whether you are looking for a young friend or a distinguished senior pet, our team is here to help you find your perfect match.
