The Humane Society of the Ochocos is dedicated to creating a community responsible for animals, providing shelter to stray and abandoned pets, and finding them loving, permanent homes. We strive to improve the welfare of all companion animals in Crook County through advocacy for responsible pet ownership.
Founded in 1995 by Gladys Logsdon and Donna Whitcomb, our organization has grown alongside the local population. In 2006, we proudly became the first animal shelter in Central Oregon to adopt a no-kill philosophy, ensuring that Crook County’s beloved animals have the safe, hopeful future they deserve.
Located in Prineville, our shelter serves as a dedicated hub for animals in need. We are committed to providing compassionate care for every resident until they find their perfect match, and we rely on the vital support of our community partners and volunteers to make our work possible.
When you choose to adopt from us, you aren't just getting a pet—you are gaining a lifelong partner. We believe every adoptable animal in our care deserves a respectful, loving home, and we are here to help guide you through the process of welcoming a new member into your family.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable animals online, check out our social media channels, or visit our shelter on Tom McCall Road during our business hours. Your support helps us continue our mission of love and care for the animals of the Ochocos.
