Columbia Humane Society
Our Mission
Our mission is to assist the community in the successful rehoming and training of adoptable animals. We are dedicated to helping displaced and neglected animals find their forever families.
Who We Are
Established in 1985 in St. Helens, Oregon, the Columbia Humane Society is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As a no-kill animal shelter, we rely entirely on the generosity of donors, grants, and community support to provide a safe haven for animals in need.
Our Approach to Care
To ensure the health and mental well-being of our animals, our shelter operates on an appointment-only basis rather than public walk-throughs. By limiting stress in the shelter environment, we provide every pet with the focused attention they deserve while they await their new beginning. Our dedicated staff is committed to keeping every animal happy and healthy while in our care.
Finding Your Perfect Match
Our philosophy is simple and unique: we strive to find the perfect pet for every individual and family. We are not focused on simply getting animals out the door; we are focused on making lifetime connections. Sometimes your canine or feline soulmate is waiting for you, and we promise that the wait is always worth it.
Join Our Community
If you are ready to meet your new best friend, we invite you to explore our available animals and email us at adoption@columbiahumane.org to begin the application process. We also encourage you to visit our events page or contact us to learn how you can volunteer or support our mission. Together, we can ensure every pet finds the loving, lifetime home they deserve.
