Women's Animal Center
A Legacy of Compassion
As America’s First Animal Shelter™, we have been dedicated to uniting pets and people since 1869. Our mission is to provide life-saving care and companionship to homeless animals while supporting the community that loves them.
Our Commitment to Care
For over 155 years, we have advocated for animal welfare in the Greater Philadelphia region. As an independent 501(c)3 non-profit, we rely entirely on the generosity of our donors to provide shelter, veterinary services, and behavior training for over 3,000 animals annually.
How We Help
We operate as a managed admissions shelter in Bensalem, PA, providing a safe harbor for cats, dogs, and small domestic animals. Each resident receives a thorough medical and behavioral evaluation, ensuring that every healthy or treatable pet has the best opportunity to find a loving home.
Your Partner in Adoption
Adoption is a joyful journey, and we are here to support you through a lifetime of companionship. Our adoption specialists focus on thoughtful matching to ensure your new family member is the perfect fit for your lifestyle and home environment.
