Strayhaven Animal Shelter
Our Mission
Strayhaven Animal Shelter is dedicated to enriching our community by promoting animal welfare in Mercer County, PA. We are proud to serve as Greenville’s no-kill shelter, providing a safe, temporary home for animals in need while they wait for their perfect match.
Our Story
Our roots trace back to the early 1950s, when a small group of compassionate neighbors began rescuing strays and caring for them in their own homes. By 1960, the community recognized the need for a dedicated facility, and thanks to the generosity of Perry Dehart, who donated both land and time, the Strayhaven Animal Shelter was officially established and incorporated.
Care and Commitment
Today, we operate a professional shelter environment supported by the hard work of our staff and community volunteers. Every cat and dog that comes through our doors receives a comprehensive health check, including a veterinary exam, essential vaccinations, flea treatment, and spay or neuter services before adoption. We partner with the dedicated team at Happy Tales Veterinary Hospital to ensure each animal receives the expert care and diagnostics they deserve while they prepare for their next chapter.
Finding Your Best Friend
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the pet that best fits your lifestyle and home. Whether you are looking for a lively puppy or a calm senior, our team is committed to thoughtful matching to ensure a happy, lasting transition for both you and your new companion. We encourage you to visit our shelter or view our adoptable animals online to see who might be waiting to meet you.
