Orphans of the Storm

Our Mission

Orphans of the Storm is dedicated to providing a safe, temporary haven for animals in need while matching them with loving forever homes. We strive to create a brighter future for both pets and their people in Armstrong County through compassion and community support.

A Legacy of Compassion

Founded in 1969, our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was created to provide refuge for unwanted and abused animals. For over five decades, we have remained committed to serving our community by advocating for responsible pet care and promoting spay and neuter services to reduce companion animal overpopulation.

Our Care Model

As a licensed no-kill shelter, we take great care in the well-being of our residents. We provide a structured, professional shelter environment where animals receive the care and attention they deserve until they find their perfect match. Our operations are supported by a devoted team that manages everything from daily care and medical needs to specialized programs like our Golden Buddies initiative for seniors.

Finding Your Perfect Companion

Adopting an orphaned pet is a beautiful, life-changing journey that saves two lives: the animal you welcome into your home, and another who now has space at our shelter. We believe in creating lasting partnerships, and our team is here to support you in finding a best friend that fits your lifestyle perfectly. Witnessing the transformation of a pet as they settle into the warmth of your love is a truly rewarding experience.

Join Us in Making a Difference

We invite you to experience the joy of adoption by viewing our currently available pets. Whether you are looking to bring a new friend home, volunteer your time, or support our efforts through our community programs, there are many ways to get involved. Please contact us at (724) 548-4520 to schedule an appointment—we look forward to helping you meet your new best friend.
