At Animal Care Sanctuary, our mission is simple: to turn compassion into action. We are dedicated to providing a lifesaving environment for dogs and cats by helping them find loving homes, promoting the human-animal bond, and preventing suffering through spay and neuter services.
Our Story
Founded by Lesley Sinclair in 1967, Animal Care Sanctuary has spent over 55 years preventing cruelty and helping thousands of animals find their forever homes. Today, we stand as a destination shelter and a thought leader in the industry, focused on solving animal overpopulation and homelessness.

More than just a shelter, we provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art care to the animals in our facility. Our on-site veterinary clinic offers essential services including spay and neuter surgeries, wellness exams, and specialized treatments for rescued animals. She had a home since she was just a kitten, and now, through no fault of her own, she’s trying to navigate a world she doesn’t understand: the shelter. Thelma is struggling here, and we know she deserves so much more than to spend her days feeling scared and uncertain. With so many dogs waiting for their chance at a better life, we knew we wanted to help! Through this partnership, we were able to welcome some new furry faces to Animal Care Sanctuary, giving them a fresh start and another opportunity to find their forever families! 🏡❤️ Since arriving at ACS, all of our newest residents have received their intake exams, settled in beautifully, and are officially ready to find their forever homes! 🥹🐾 Every dog deserves a second chance, and we're so thankful to work alongside other shelters to make that possible! 10/3 - 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲! ❤️ When he first came to us, he was understandably nervous and unsure about people. With plenty of patience, kindness, and time to build trust, Mack has blossomed into a sweet boy who is learning just how nice love and affection can be! Mack likes to take things at his own pace. Give him a calm, quiet approach and a little time to check you out, and before long, he’ll cautiously sniff your finger and lean in for pets. 🥹 He may occasionally need a little break when he gets overwhelmed, but don’t be surprised when he comes right back asking for more attention! Mack is also vaccinated against FeLV, which means he can safely live with cats who are positive for Feline Leukemia Virus, even though Mack himself is FeLV negative. He currently shares his space with two FeLV-positive roommates and would be happy to join a home with another FeLV-positive kitty—or even head home with one (or both!) of his current roommates, who are also searching for their forever families. 🐱❤️ Mack just needs someone willing to give him the patience, understanding, and love he deserves. Once you earn his trust, it’s incredibly rewarding to watch his sweet personality shine through. 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞? 10/2 - Meet our FeLV+ cats! 🐱💚 Pretty, Drusilla, and Frankster are all looking for loving homes. FeLV (feline leukemia virus) is a virus (not cancer) that can weaken a cat’s immune system. FeLV+ cats can live happy, fulfilling lives with proper care, and they can even live with FeLV-negative cats as long as everyone gets along and there’s no fighting. We recommend FeLV-negative housemates be vaccinated.
