Lawrence County Humane Society

Our Mission

At the Lawrence County Humane Society, we are dedicated to providing a safe haven for lost and homeless animals while actively preventing cruelty in our community. Every day, we strive to transform the lives of the animals in our care by offering them a second chance at happiness.

A History of Compassion

Since 1953, our organization has served as a vital sanctuary for the animals of Lawrence County. For over seven decades, we have remained committed to protecting our local pet population and ensuring that every animal receives the care and dignity they deserve.

How We Care for Our Animals

We operate a dedicated shelter facility in New Castle, PA, where animals receive comprehensive support. Each resident is provided with a comfortable living environment, nutritious food, and essential medical care, including vaccinations, spay/neuter procedures, SNAP testing, and micro-chipping. Most importantly, our staff ensures every animal receives plenty of love while they await their forever families.

Finding Your Perfect Match

We believe that adoption is the start of a beautiful partnership, and we are committed to making thoughtful matches that last a lifetime. Because we want every placement to be a success, we use an application-based process to ensure our animals find homes that suit their unique personalities and needs. All of our meet-and-greets are scheduled by appointment, allowing our team to provide personalized attention to every potential adopter.

10/1 - DOLLY 1 year. That's 365 days, 8,760 hours. That is how long Dolly has been at the shelter. This beautiful, sweet, lovable girl has spent 1 year in the kennel, and that is just 1 year too long. We don't know why she is still here. She walks excellent on a leash and is very gentle. Velcro should be her middle name, because her favorite place to be is by your side. She also loves to play and can find the joy in every situation. She would make a great companion for someone who has no other pets, who is just looking for someone to love. She gives 100% of her heart to anyone who will give her the time. Maybe you have room in your heart and home for this lovely lady? For more information on Dolly,, please visit our website at lawrencecountyhumane.com. Our adoption application is on there as well. Don't let Dolly spend another year waiting for her forever home.
