Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA

Our Mission

The Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA is a dedicated no-kill shelter committed to protecting the welfare of all domestic animals in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. We strive to promote the humane treatment of our animals through compassion, personal commitment, and professional medical care.

Our Commitment to Care

As a no-kill organization, we ensure that every animal in our care is never euthanized due to a lack of space or the duration of their stay. We provide a safe haven for stray, abandoned, neglected, and unwanted animals, offering them the medical attention and support they deserve while they await their forever homes.

How We Operate

Our facility is a vibrant community hub where our team provides essential services including shelter, vaccinations, and spay/neuter assistance. We rely on the dedication of our staff and community support to maintain a healthy environment for our animals, from cleaning and disinfecting quarters to providing the exercise and social interaction every pet needs.

The Joy of Adoption

We believe that every animal deserves a loving family, and we work hard to make the perfect match for you and your lifestyle. Adopting is a rewarding journey that gives a second chance to a deserving pet, and we invite you to experience the life-changing bond that comes with bringing a new companion into your home. We even offer fee-waived adoptions for seniors who adopt one of our senior pets.

10/10 - 🥺💔 **SEVEN MONTHS.** 💔🥺 For **seven months**, Coco and Chanel have waited. Waited for someone to see them. Waited for someone to choose them. Waited for a family to call their own. But before they arrived here, their story was heartbreaking. After their beloved owner passed away, the people who promised to care for them did the unthinkable. Instead of keeping that promise, they abandoned these two senior girls on a mountain, alone and terrified. 💔 They had just lost the person they loved most in the world. Then they lost their home, their security, and nearly each other. When they were found, they were severely emaciated. Their skin was raw and sore. Their little bodies told the painful story of neglect, heartbreak, and survival. Yet somehow, through all of that, they never stopped loving. ❤️ ✨ Meet Coco and Chanel ✨ 🐾 **Coco**, a 12-year-old Black Lab/German Shepherd mix 🐾 **Chanel**, a 14-year-old German Shepherd mix A kind person found them and brought them to us in March. Since then, these beautiful girls have undergone an incredible transformation. Their coats are healthier. Their eyes are brighter. Their bodies are stronger. But the biggest change? They learned that people can be kind again. ❤️ Now, after seven long months, there's only one thing missing... 🏡 **A family.** Not a shelter kennel. Not another temporary stop. A real home. These girls are bonded and **must stay together**. Through losing their owner, surviving abandonment, and starting over, they've only ever had one constant: each other. They've already lost so much. They shouldn't have to lose each other too. 💔 We know some people hesitate when they hear the word "senior." They worry there won't be enough time. But here's the truth: None of us are promised tomorrow. The value of a dog's life isn't measured by how many years are left. It's measured by the love shared during the time we have together. ❤️ And Coco and Chanel have so much love left to give. Imagine being the reason their story finally has a happy ending. Imagine being the person who shows them that their best chapter wasn't behind them... it was waiting for them all along. ✨ Please help us find these sweet girls the retirement home they've been dreaming of. Because after everything they've endured, they deserve soft beds, gentle hands, warm hearts, and a family that will never leave them behind again. 🏡🐾❤️ **Adopt Coco & Chanel. Give them the ending they deserve.** 📩 Contact us for adoption information. 9/29 - 🚨🐾 **URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR OUR RESCUE CATS & KITTENS!** 🐾🚨 As cold and flu season approaches, we're seeing more and more cats and kittens come through our doors carrying upper respiratory infections. Even though our cats are vaccinated, when stray cats arrive, they often bring germs that can quickly spread to others in our care. Right now, we are in **desperate need of warm mist humidifiers** to help keep our cats and kittens comfortable and assist with congestion and respiratory symptoms. These simple items can make a huge difference for vulnerable animals who have already been through so much. ❤️🐱 If you would like to help, warm mist humidifiers can be purchased through: ✅ Amazon ✅ Walmart ✅ Other local retailers They can be shipped directly to us, and we would be incredibly grateful for your support. As a **501(c)(3) non-profit rescue**, much of what we provide for the animals comes directly from donations and, quite often, out of our own pockets. Every dollar and every donated item helps us continue giving these cats and kittens the care they deserve. Please consider helping, sharing this post, or letting others know about our urgent need. Together, we can make sure these precious lives stay warm, comfortable, and healthy this season. 🐾❤️ Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA 18 Wertz Dr Pine Grove PA 17963 📞 Questions?
