At the Brandywine Valley SPCA, we strive to end animal suffering and empower communities to find the heart in humanity. We are dedicated to advocating on behalf of animals and ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity.
Founded in 1929, we have grown into the largest animal welfare organization in the region, serving Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Washington, DC. We were the first open-admission no-kill shelter in Pennsylvania and Delaware, and we helped lead Delaware to become the first no-kill state in the country.
Every year, we care for more than 27,000 animals, providing safety, love, and hope to lost pets, abandoned dogs and cats, and cruelty victims. We offer an open-access environment where every animal in our care enjoys individual enrichment, such as daily playgroups, until they find their forever home.
Adoption is a joyful, rewarding journey, and we practice an open-adoption approach to make it a simple and fun process for your family. By removing barriers and focusing on supportive, open-ended conversations, our team helps you find the perfect match for your lifestyle and needs. We are here to ensure you feel educated, respected, and supported throughout your life with your new companion.
Your new best friend is waiting to meet you! We invite you to visit our shelters on a walk-in basis or browse our website to see the many adorable, adoptable pets currently looking for a place to call home. Together, we can continue to create positive change and improve the lives of pets and the families who love them.
