The Elk County Humane Society is dedicated to helping homeless animals in Elk County, Pennsylvania, by providing them with a safe haven and a second chance at a happy life. We work every day to improve the lives of these animals and ensure they find the loving families they deserve.
Founded in 2001 by a group of passionate animal lovers, we began our journey working through a network of dedicated foster homes. In 2007, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of foundations, corporations, and our local community, we completed our own shelter building to better serve our furry friends.
Our facility is designed with animal comfort in mind, featuring 24 dog kennels, 44 cat pens, a dedicated puppy room, and a medical room. We are proud of our history of helping over 1,700 animals, made possible by the endless support of our volunteers and community members who help us care for these animals 365 days a year.
We believe that adopting a new pet should be a simple, affordable, and extremely rewarding experience. Our process is designed to ensure a successful partnership, including a thoughtful application and a meet-and-greet for current dog owners to ensure everyone in your home gets along beautifully.
Whether you are looking to rescue your new best friend or simply want to contribute to our work, we would love for you to get involved. Please visit our website to see our current list of adoptable pets, fill out an online application, or stop by to meet our residents in person during our open hours. Your support changes the world for a homeless animal, and we thank you for being a part of our mission.
