Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries is dedicated to providing humane, no-kill sanctuaries for the care and rehabilitation of abandoned and at-risk animals. Through advocacy, outreach, and compassionate environments, we strive to make a real difference in the lives of animals and promote a culture of respect for all living things.
Formed in 2001 after an inspiring visit to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, our nonprofit serves as a vital community resource for Tioga County, Pennsylvania, and beyond. We were established to bridge the gap for animals in need and to support the caring individuals who strive to help them, evolving from a foster-based organization to a facility-supported rescue.
Since the opening of our Heading Home Center in 2016, we have provided a safe haven for stray, abandoned, and homeless animals. We operate as a life-saving, community-funded organization where nearly all animal care and support are performed by a dedicated team of volunteers. Beyond shelter, we provide essential resources ranging from veterinary care assistance to humane education programs for our local youth.
We believe that adoption is a joyful partnership, which is why we utilize our Perfect Match program to thoughtfully pair pets with families based on their unique personalities and needs. We do not operate on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring that every transition is built for long-term success. We invite you to visit us during our open hours to meet our residents and see how these connections change lives for the better.
Are you ready to find your next best friend? We invite you to browse our current adoptable animals, learn about our volunteer opportunities, or reach out to us at our Tioga sanctuary. Your support as a donor, volunteer, or adopter helps us continue our mission of providing a second chance to every animal who walks through our doors.
