A Passion for Canine Companionship

At Animatch, our mission is to ensure every dog finds their perfect, lifelong match. We believe that a positive adoption experience has the power to change the world for both the human guardian and their new four-legged family member.

Our Humble Beginnings

Founded in 1999 by Helen Lacroix, Animatch began as a grassroots effort around a kitchen table, fueled by a lifelong love for animals. Over the decades, we have grown into a dedicated organization committed to providing a sanctuary for dogs in need of a fresh start.

A Home-Like Approach to Care

Our center in Pointe Fortune is a specialized, intimate environment designed to help dogs transition comfortably. With space for up to 15 dogs at a time, our facility includes amenities like a private playground, comfortable sleeping areas, and daily enrichment programs to ensure each dog is socialized and happy. We prioritize individual attention, medical care, and a warm atmosphere to help our residents flourish while they wait for their forever families.

Finding Your Perfect Match

We believe in quality over quantity, which is why our adoption process is thoughtfully designed to find the best possible fit for both the dog and the adopter. By thoroughly evaluating temperaments and needs, we help create lasting bonds that stand the test of time. Our team is dedicated to providing ongoing support and advice, ensuring you feel confident and prepared as you begin this joyful journey together.

10/22 - Precious 💜 Ready for a sad story? Here goes... I was picked up as a stray by Animal Control. My family was found, but sadly they weren’t able to welcome me back. Talk about a broken heart. Now let me tell you a little about the real me. I’m a 6-year-old Pit Bull who has never met a stranger. I love people, get along well with other dogs, but cats and I have agreed we’re just not meant to be roommates. Like any dog, I do best with kindness, consistency, and a little guidance. I’m smart, eager to learn, and genuinely want to make my people happy. I’d love nothing more than to become the “poster dog” for what a well-loved, well-trained Pit Bull can be—a loyal, affectionate, fun-loving companion. I am built like a tank, so shedding a few pounds would do me good. Instead of rewarding me with treats every time I get something right, how about a cheerful “Good girl!” or a nice scratch behind the ears? Add in plenty of walks and adventures together, and I’ll be back to my best weight in no time. You’re never too old to learn new things, and neither am I. Training isn’t just about teaching commands—it’s one of the best ways for us to build trust, have fun, and become the perfect team. I’ll happily show you, again and again, just what a good dog I can be. If I had one wish, it would be a family to call my own—a patient, gentle family who will see me for who I am, not just my breed. Give me a chance, and I think you’ll discover that I’m everything you’ve been looking for. If you’d like to share your life with me, please fill out an application and ask for Precious. 10/22 - Moose🤎 Moose is my name, and I am a Coonhound who finds himself looking for a new home because my family was breaking up and my humans were no longer able to care for me. It’s been a big change, but I’m ready to put the past behind me and focus on what comes next. And what comes next is a wellness journey! At 105 pounds of sweetness, I have a little more Moose to love than is healthy for me. I’m looking for a human who will help me lose those extra pounds slowly and safely. No crash diets or marathon workouts, please! My exercise program should begin with several gentle neighbourhood strolls each day—heavy on the sniffing, light on the running. As I get fitter, we can gradually increase the time and distance. A measured diet will also be important. I know I have a face that practically screams, “But I’m starving!” even when I’ve just eaten, so you’ll need to be strong. Food rewards should be kept to a minimum while I work toward a healthier weight. Honestly, hearing you say “Good boy, Moose!” and getting a satisfying scratch behind my ears are pretty great rewards too. I’ve never lived with another dog, but I get along with them. I’m not really looking for a wrestling partner, though—I prefer a more civilized canine friendship. I’d also be perfectly happy being your one and only. Cats, however, are not on my list of future roommates. I’ve never lived with children, but older kids who understand and respect dogs could be considered. I am a hound, after all, which means I’m not shy about announcing what’s going on around me. Because I can be quick to sound the alarm, apartment or condo living isn’t for me. A fenced yard would also be a great safety feature, especially as I get fitter and my hound nose starts making suggestions about where I should go exploring! Most importantly, I’m looking for someone who understands that helping me get healthy is part of loving me. I need a family who will stay committed to me, my diet, my exercise and my well-being for the rest of my days. Lien vers la biographie en français ici : 👇🏼 https://animatch.ca/fr/pages/dogs/26206

10/22 - Tina🩷 A three-year-old Border Collie whose world was turned upside down when her human moved and was unable to take her along. Bummer. But Tina is a resilient girl, and she’s ready to put that chapter behind her and become part of another family — this time, forever. Being a Border Collie means Tina is definitely not a couch potato. She has energy to burn and would love a human who enjoys walking, hiking, exploring, and generally getting out and about. After a busy day of activity, she may be perfectly happy to curl up beside you — but first, she needs to earn that couch time! And it’s not just physical exercise that Tina needs. Border Collies are smart cookies, and Tina will also need plenty of mental stimulation. Training would be a great place to start and an excellent way to build a bond with her before moving on to organized activities. If you’re already a dog-sport enthusiast, even better — Tina would be thrilled to be your right-hand girl and put her brain and energy to work. Tina gets along with other dogs following a proper introduction. She has not lived with children, so older, respectful children who already understand life with a dog would be the best fit for her. So, do you have the time, energy, and enthusiasm for this beautiful girl? Are you ready to make Tina part of your life for all of hers? If so, fill out an application. She can be packed and ready to go in a flash — adventure awaits! Lien vers la biographie en français ici : 👇🏼 https://animatch.ca/fr/pages/dogs/26211
