Welcome to PawsWatch Community Cat Center, a dedicated organization committed to caring for community cats across Rhode Island. Our mission is simple yet profound: to practice TNRM (Trap, Neuter, Return, Manage), provide essential medical care, and facilitate the adoption of kittens and stray cats. Since our establishment in Newport in 1997, we have evolved into a 501(c)(3) Public Charity that has positively impacted the lives of over 25,000 feral, stray, abandoned, and free-roaming community cats. Our approach aims to alleviate the suffering of homeless animals, prevent future generations from enduring similar circumstances, and reduce the number of cats euthanized in shelters. At the heart of our organization lies the PawsWatch Community Cat Center, which was made possible through a generous partnership with the Grieco Automotive Group in 2017. This physical home serves as a pre-and post-operative facility for cats undergoing the TNRM process, allowing them a safe space to recuperate after surgery. Our center embodies our dedication to feline rescue, encompassing medical care, adoption, socialization, and community engagement. With a robust veterinary presence on-site, we perform various essential procedures including sterilizations, treatment of infections, and eye care, ensuring that even the most vulnerable cats receive the attention they need. As of May 2025, we proudly report that our efforts have led to the medical care of 4,492 cats and the safe removal of 3,626 cats from streets. We believe that every cat, whether feral or stray, deserves a chance to live healthy and happy lives.
