Pawmetto Lifeline
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a community in which no healthy, adoptable pet dies simply because it is homeless. We strive to alleviate animal suffering while setting safe, humane standards for companion pets throughout the Midlands.
Our History and Purpose
Founded in 1999 as Project Pet, we have spent decades working to transform the local landscape for companion animals. We believe in building a better humanity through education, collaboration, and a steadfast dedication to rescuing healthy, treatable pets from homelessness.
How We Provide Care
We operate a dedicated facility on Bower Parkway in Columbia, which serves as our hub for adoptions, medical services, and boarding. Beyond our physical location, we rely on a compassionate network of foster families who provide temporary, loving homes for pets until they are ready to meet their forever families.
The Joy of Adoption
We believe that every adoption is the beginning of a beautiful, life-long partnership. Our team is dedicated to thoughtful matching, ensuring that each of our wonderful dogs and cats finds an environment that best fits their unique needs and personality. When you choose to adopt, you are giving a deserving animal a fresh start and welcoming a new best friend into your home.
Join Our Community
We invite you to browse our available pets online or visit us to meet your next companion. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer, or join our monthly giving program, your support helps us continue our vital work. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend.

10/10 - Meet Popper 🐾💙 This sweet 3-year-old terrier once had a home… then all of a sudden he didn’t. Left to figure out the world on his own, he’s still learning that people can be kind, and that life doesn’t have to be scary. He’s shy with women, nervous around men at first, but incredibly loyal once he knows he’s safe. Smart, eager to please, and a total sucker for treats, he’s making progress on his leash skills, his “sit,” and his confidence every day. Popper needs a patient, experienced adopter - ideally with no young kids, and slow intros if there’s another calm dog in the home. Underneath his cautious exterior (and those striking ice-blue eyes) is a goofy, loving boy who just wants to belong. He’s already survived being left behind. Now he’s ready for the home that never will. Come meet him today 10 - 5 at Pawmetto Lifeline. 10/1 - 10/2 Latest update : Meg is stable and they have been able to take her off of her blood pressure medication but she is not out of the woods yet. She will be in the hospital through the weekend at least and they will continue to monitor her kidney values. She is lifting her head and looking at you now, which she was not doing last night so we are cautiously optimistic that she has a chance to pull through this. ___________ 🚨 Meg needs your help NOW 🚨 She’s only 2 years old. She has pyometra, a severe uterine infection, and she’s now septic. She isn’t sedated in this video. This is how sick she really is. We’re giving her a chance. Meg is going into emergency surgery and will spend several days in the hospital on antibiotics and supportive care. It’s a hail mary, but she deserves to fight. Every dollar you give goes directly to Meg’s care. 💛 #pawmettolifeline #rescuecat #rescuecatsofinstagram
